Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - As the name implies, this mast comprises 3 parts. The outer part mounts securely to the lift truck. The next intermediate part telescopes within the outer section. The inmost section telescopes within the middle section. The inner part and the intermediate section both raise while the lift cylinders extend. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides in the inner section. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas such as doorways where overhead clearances are limited. This particular mast is normally outfitted with a center cylinder so as to allow the fork carriage raise some distance before the mast sections commence lengthening.
The 2 Stage Mast has two parts. The inner part telescopes within the outer and elevates as the lift cylinders lengthen. The external part of this mast model is attached to the lift truck. The fork carriage is actually positioned inside the inner section. This mast type has a taller lowered height than an equivalent lift height quad mast or 3 stage mast.
